What is SCVNGR?
SCVNGR is an interactive geo-location game that can be played using any phone. While similar to FourSquare, SCVNGR requires challenges to be completed in order to receive real prizes, like 10% off at your favorite shop or restaurant or great prizes from Clarkson like gift certificates, free meal coupons, apparel and more.

What do I need to do to play?
Download the SCVNGR app and a QR Code reader on your smartphone. If you don’t have a smartphone, you can still play! Other phones may participate via text message. When the date arrives you will be presented with a trek "keyword" that you must text to SCVNGR [728647]. Then, a text will be sent back to you with your first location and challenge!
What’s in it for me?
Well, aside from all the fun you can have, new places you might go and things you can learn by playing on SCVNGR, many businesses are using SCVNGR to reward their most loyal customers. So look for SCVNGR logos all over to pick up some free prizes.
What will Clarkson’s treks be like?
Clarkson’s SCVNGR treks will bring you to various familiar or unfamiliar locations around campus and/or the local area. At each location, you’ll have to complete a challenge, which can be anything from will be either snapping a photo, answering questions, or scanning a QR code.
What is a QR Code?
QR Codes are still fairly new. They sort of look like boxes filled with mazes, like this:
You can find them just about anywhere these days, on t-shirts, in magazines, on billboards, and more. With a QR code reader, you can scan these codes and they’ll bring you to a website.
