Clarkson University to Launch Adirondack Semester in Fall

Clarkson University's Institute for a Sustainable Environment has created a unique educational opportunity to live and learn in the Adirondack Park. This fall, the "Adirondack Semester" will host Clarkson students from diverse subject backgrounds as they immerse themselves in an interdisciplinary, academically rigorous, experiential and thought-provoking curriculum.
Clarkson University in First Phase of Green Distributed Performance-Optimized Data Center Project with NYSERDA, AMD, HP, GE and Others

The first meeting of researchers who hope to transform the data center industry with distributed networks and renewable energy was held on the Clarkson University campus late last month. The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has partnered with Clarkson University, Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD), HP, GE and other private businesses to demonstrate how a network of wind, solar, hydro and other renewable-powered data centers could create a new model for data center and renewable energy operations.

Clarkson University Researchers Ready Unmanned Aerial Vehicle for DOE Wind Study

A Clarkson research team is readying its unmanned aerial vehicle, the Clarkson RAVEN (Research Aerial Vehicle for Experimental Needs), to acquire wind turbulence data. Three Clarkson faculty, along with colleagues from six institutions and companies in the U.S. and Europe, have been awarded $700,000 by the U.S. Department of Energy to study Lake Erie wind resources and to perform a detailed evaluation of remote sensing technologies for wind resource estimation.

Clarkson University Researchers Identify Possible Receptor for Key Breast Cancer Regulator

A key protein potentially involved in regulating breast cancer progression has been identified by researchers at Clarkson University. Led by Chemistry & Biomolecular Science Prof. Costel C. Darie, the team worked to identify the binding partner of Tumor Differentiating Factor (TDF), a pituitary hormone that had previously been shown to reduce cancer progression in breast cancer cells.
